“In the name of God, I, Sarahbeth Graves, take You, my Father in Heaven, to be my (husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in want, to love and to cherish, until we are parted by death. This is my solemn vow.”
Recently, the Lord has imprinted this on my heart again and again since this past Tuesday. He has been revealing to me that it’s because of His sweet love for me—a reminder that He has my heart. In all things, He is my fullness, the One who completes me, and the One to whom I make my eternal vow.
I am His beloved bride, rescued from the deepest waters and called by name. On my best day and on my worst day, He calls me His own. In richness, He gives me mercy. In poverty, He gives me grace. In sickness and in health, He is my healer and my protector. In plenty and in want, I am always left with abundance because of my desire for my Beloved King.
“To love and to cherish,” for He loved and cherished me before I was ever formed. For all of my days, I get to praise Him—not just until death do us part, but eternally—because He brought me back to life when I was completely dead in my sin.
What a sweet friend we have in Jesus.
